Contemporary Scottish Artist, Jane Hunter - Textile Map - Isle of Skye, Geology of Cuillin

Regular price £160.00

An abstract, textile art piece.  This map highlights the complicated geology of the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

The geology of the Isle of Skye is quite varied, the area I’ve focused on in this piece is known as the ‘Central Complex’ and is home to the world famous Cuillin mountains which are formed from two very different igneous units. The Black Cuillin are predominantly made from gabbro and peridotite whereas the Red Cuillin are mainly granite.
The bright colours of the geological map have been used here to highlight this area of huge geological interest and immense natural beauty.
