Jane Hunter Textile Artist Paisley Studio

I’m home!

Old Embroidery Mill, Seedhill, Paisley.

Old Embroidery Mill Paisley - Jane Hunter Textile Artist

If you’re familiar with my work you’ll realise the significance of my new address.  As a textile artist, returning home to a place built by the thread and textile industry in the 1800’s it feels right and proper.

I’m totally in love with my new space and really look forward to using it in a different way to my former studio in West Kilbride. For one thing, my daughters are at school just round the corner, so I can pop straight in after the school run. My Dad lives in the next street, so I can keep an eye on him (he’s trouble you know!).

Read some of my thoughts on leaving West Kilbride and moving to Paisley.

And, since it’s a private space, I’ll be able to spend more time to focusing on the increasing demand for commissions. With less time spent commuting I’ll also be develop my practice in a number of ways. Rather than being open on prescribed days, I’ll be working flexibly to suit my workload, learning and research requirements.

Coming up Main Street in West Kilbride wont be the same any more with you not there but West Kilbride’s loss is Paisley’s gain. Best wishes, Norman

Looks a lovely new space Jane. Love the windows. I gather the old building has been repurposed into new Creative studios and you’re right, knowing the origins of the building I can see why you feel so at home. It does seem right and proper and I’m excited to see your growth as an artist here. See you in September.

My Mum and Dad met at Coat’s mills many years ago, in the Counting House. They’re still well, and I hope you will be too, many years from now. Good luck, and love from Cam.
