Perle Hotels Group programme of refurbishment of their portfolio begins with an elegant, contemporary upgrade of the eleven bedroom Marmalade Hotel, Portree, Isle of Skye.
Having appointed the Glasgow based architecture & interior design studio ICA, the refurbishment was nearing completion when thoughts turned to finishing touches. The company, demonstrating their firm commitment to supporting local suppliers throughout their portfolio of hotels in Scotland, already works with small, independent producers including Skye Weavers and Patricia Shone Ceramics.
On discovering Jane’s studio, the interior designer team recognised the influence the Isle of Skye has had on Jane and her work.
For this commission, a series of individually unique, textile maps was produced, one for each room at Marmalade. Referencing the colours of land and sea Jane most associates with the island, while taking into account the new soft furnishings and interior decoration, these handcrafted works continue the hotels theme of island warmth with a simple, contemporary, authentic feel.
Jane says, “I’m delighted to have been commissioned by Perle Hotels. The ethos of the company, to champion local and artisanal produce and talent, is in itself inspiring. I must thank Lorraine at ICA and Beth of Perle Hotels for the opportunity. Congratulations on such a beautiful refurbishment.”
